Piotr Jandula, a native of Warsaw Poland, began studying piano at the age of five and soon after the violin. He later chose the viola as the focal instrument of his career. While at the Academy of Music in Warsaw, he participated with Szymanowski Quartet in masterclasses held in Bayreuth, Germany and performances in Hamburg during the International Cultural Exchange Festival. After finishing a Master of Arts with honors at the Academy, he received a scholarship to Indiana University where he continued his education under the guidance of Prof. Abraham Skernick. While at Indiana, he won the Indiana University Concerto Competition and performed solo with its' premiere orchestra. He also served as it's principal violist and toured France, opening the new opera house in Paris. He completed the Artist Diploma Program in 1991 and relocated to Albuquerque where he served as the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra's assistant principal violist. Mr. Jandula first appeared at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival in 1994 substituting for Mr. Heiihiro Ohyama where he was invited to perform for consecutive seasons. Mr. Jandula has performed with Santa Fe Pro Musica Ensemble and Santa Fe Opera during his years in New Mexico. Since January of 1997 he lives in Los Angeles where his recent credits include performances with the Los Angeles Opera, Long Beach Opera, Santa Barbara Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, LA Mozart Orchestra and South Bay Chamber Orchestra as well as his work in the recording industry for movie soundtracks. Since the Fall of 1999, Piotr has been part of the Maestrini Duo with pianist, Janet Kocyan.
